SolarEdge Solar PV & Battery Storage Installation in Farnham

A bespoke SolarEdge solar and battery installation in Farnham, with an 8 kW three-phase Home Hub inverter and detailed energy monitoring.

Domestic Solar Case Study | Farnham

Solar power for a connected home

A Farnham homeowner wanted to reduce electricity bills, improve energy independence and integrate solar generation and battery storage with a wider connected-home environment. Big Green Electrical worked collaboratively with the homeowner to design a tailored SolarEdge system.

  • 25 in-roof panels reported in the customer's Google review
  • 8 kW three-phase SolarEdge Home Hub inverter
  • SolarEdge power optimisers and modular 48 V batteries
  • SolarEdge Home Backup Interface
  • Detailed monitoring of solar generation, storage and electricity use

The challenge

Making the most of multiple roof areas

Several roof sections and a separate garage called for careful planning and coordination with the wider building programme. SolarEdge design tools and panel-level optimisers helped assess compatible array configurations and make effective use of available roof space.

The solution

Integrated SolarEdge technology

Big Green Electrical installed a three-phase SolarEdge Home Hub inverter, modular 48 V battery storage and a Home Backup Interface. The homeowner's technical knowledge made this a particularly collaborative project, with smart-home integration an important consideration.

Monitoring real-world performance

The SolarEdge monitoring platform records 24.7 MWh of lifetime solar generation and 8.29 MWh generated during the displayed 2026 period. Its 2026 consumption breakdown shows 18% supplied directly from solar, 23% from battery discharge and 59% from the grid.

Solar and battery discharge together supplied 41% of recorded consumption during the period shown. Battery discharge may include electricity charged from the grid, so this is not necessarily all renewable electricity. The customer also reported more than £800 of savings over two months in a five-star Google review; that figure is customer-reported.

Daniel and the Big Green Electrical Company have been outstanding. When I was planning and building my new house I really wanted to work with a solar provider that would work with me to understand my wider electrical requirements and design a solar system to match. […] Nothing has been too much trouble and he has helped with advice and guidance around other electrical elements of the house, working closely with the main contractor and electricians to ensure everything worked well together.
