For this large residential garden in Weybridge, Surrey, the brief was to create a sophisticated outdoor lighting scheme to bring the expansive landscaping to life after dark. The property features pathways, established planting, mature trees, water features, and dedicated outdoor entertaining areas. The Challenge

Creating Multi-Layered Atmosphere Across Extensive Grounds

A garden of this scale required an installation that performed on multiple levels, combining functional navigation with atmospheric feature lighting. The client wanted complete, simple control over different areas independently, without flooding the landscape with uniform brightness. Furthermore, all electrical infrastructure, transformers, ducting, and cabling had to be planned and positioned with care to ensure the installation remained discreet and uncluttered during the daytime.

The Solution

Precision Installation, Quality Fittings, and Smart Control

Over 20 days on site, a two-person team installed a range of warm 2700K exterior fittings including Collingwood SL220 spike lights, LuxR Modux spots, domed path lights, Hunza Twin Bar units, and Iroko bollards on concreted brackets. The scheme was divided into nine zones managed via a Light Symphony smart control box using an astronomical clock for seasonal sunrise and sunset adjustments. Electrical infrastructure was consolidated within central IP-rated enclosures alongside the main board, and additional power and lighting were extended to the shed, greenhouse, and treehouse before full testing and NICEIC certification.

The completed project transforms the extensive grounds into an evening retreat with clear paths, highlighted tree canopies, and subtly lit entertainment spaces.
